Warm and cheerful are the two words that came to mind when we first met Kala – who you may know as @kalapadasuatu on Instagram. As we talked to her about her passion in sharing her self-love journey – including embracing her wavy hair as well as matters like humanitarian and gender issues, we’ve got to understand why she is such an inspiration. Let’s find out about it, here!
Honestly, it was anger and anxiousness. I used to have so many questions in my mind about myself, about the world, about how we as a human being, despite being so complex, are forced to show one color. I wanted to be as humane and as complex as I could through my hair, my look, and my stories. Through those expressions I intend to show my human complexity as honestly as possible, so the others can be reminded that we can celebrate ourselves as human beings.
The one campaign when I first started for my clothing brand called #BraveTobeBare. I keep it close to my heart because it is hard to be brave to be bare. It takes so much bravery, feels personal, and makes me reflect a lot. I’ve got to learn and unlearn from it, so I guess that’s why I find it memorable. It’s actually been a while since I ran it, and I want to do it again!
My life motto is belajar, bertumbuh, berkarya, dan berbagi lagi dan lagi (to learn, to grow, to create, and to share again and again). I think what I create becomes an inspiration for me. #BraveTobeBare, for example, inspires me to keep being honest with myself. It may be something I don’t always do, but I want it to keep inspiring me.
Thankfully, I’ve checked all of my goals!
So, for now I want to keep creating and sharing things through my campaigns.
