Do you know what your hair type is? Here, we’re going to help you understand your hair type more. Keep reading, Fuzz!

The key to having a good hair day everyday is by understanding your hair type, Fuzz! Once you get it right you will know how to take care of it to look at its healthiest. But, what is a hair type, actually?

Hair type is basically the classification of your hair pattern, and it is mostly determined by the size of your hair follicle. The flatter the follicle shape is, the curlier your hair, and the more circular it is, the straighter your hair. The hair typing system was created by hairstylist Andre Walker who divided it into 4 types with 3 sub-classifications:

Each type has A-C sub-classification based on the diameter of your straight, curly, wavy, or coily hair. Type A is the widest, Type B is medium, and Type C is the tightest. To picture it better, check out our illustrations on this!

Do you know what your hair type is now, Fuzz? Or do you think your hair can fit into more than one type?

FUN FACT!
Textured hair tends to have more than one type in one head, so it’s a totally normal thing! Your genetics mostly determine your hair type, but the use of chemicals like coloring your hair might affect your hair type.

HAIR CARE TIPS!
✔️ Find the right moisture & styling products for your hair based on your hair type
If your hair is Type 1-2, it’s better for you to use a lightweight product. This will avoid product built up or flat hair.
Opt for formula that promises volume, adds bounce, or helps hold textures.
If your hair is Type is 3-4, your hair tends to be drier and your textures require more care. The best products for you would be the one with more moisture and hold, without the tacky feeling.

✔ ️ If your hair is on wavy, curly, or coily side and you have mixed hair type, it’s better for you to dry your hair with a diffuser rather than air dry it as it helps shaping your hair into the pattern you desire.
